So yesterday I was downtown making a run to make an important transaction, so that I can make this very important order. I went into ace cash, just to realize I did not have the information I needed to complete the order. I was so mad and frustrated because I had parked about eight blocks away downtown at a parking meter that I only had for an hour. I walked out of there cursing under my breath and feeling that all this gas I used and all this walking was for NOTHING.....I was wrong...on my angry walk back I noticed this art store across the street. I have never seen or heard of it before. For a second I thought..."fuck it, I don't have time." But then I realized that it was worth a look. I walked into one of the nicest art stores I have ever seen in my whole life. Two levels of tools and good prices that I don't think you could find anywhere else (good quality sketch books $6 each). I walked up stairs...and then it happened. At the very bottom shelf...was an animation light box...an actual in the box animation light box. After getting my $1000 refund for a desktop that was not working I knew that money was not an issue. Here it is, the final piece that I needed to become a happy animator. No ordering off the internet, no needing to wait for it to come in the mail, and no worries that I would have to wait even longer if it does not work. I was in love. These things are not easy to come by in Colorado. and they only had ONE. Paying about $250 plus another $110 for an extra glass plate with peg bars (since the lightbox had missing pegs) was nothing to me. I still have about $600 left from my desktop refund. I can now do traditional animation along side my digital. The two can go hand in hand and help me become a better animator. It works just how I imagined. I also got 10% off on both parts because of the missing peg bars. I feel so lucky. My day did a complete 180. I will post up a picture of my baby when I find a good camera to use.
